The team has considerable expertise in the area of digital heritage and experience of working with cultural heritage organisations on collaborative projects. Dr Christopher Whitehead (Lead), Dr Areti Galani, International Centre for Cultural & Heritage Studies, Newcastle University Areti Galani leads the ILAB:Museum initiative and works in conjunction with colleagues from the department of computing science in Newcastle University’s Culture Lab. Galani is researching the social lives of digital media objects. Galani has also been researching the use of Flickr in museums and the integration of the public’s own photographs in display settings. The research will offer collaborative opportunities with the School of Education’s research proposal ‘Encounters in and beyond the room’ and the research potential in the Access and Digital Media area.
