Café des Artistes

Each Café des Artistes is an opportunity for public engagement with a specific artist featured in the ARTIST ROOMS collection.

The first of the public discussions on a major contemporary Scottish artist and poet, Ian Hamilton Finlay, hosted by Professor Andrew Patrizio and Dr Greg Thomas.

A public discussion on Richard Long held at Talbot Rice Gallery on 21 January 2014, hosted by Patrick Elliott, Senior Curator at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and Ruth Burgon, History of Art PhD Candidate at ECA.

A participatory evening on Johan Grimonprez with talks by Professor Neil Cox and Harry Weeks, at 6pm, Tuesday 11 February 2014 at Talbot Rice Gallery.

A participatory evening on Andy Warhol which took place at 6pm Tuesday 1 April 2014 at Talbot Rice Gallery, hosted by Dr Glyn Davis and Vicky Horne.

Dr Christian Weikop, Lara Day and Lara Demori hosted a participatory discussion on Anselm Kiefer on 5 May 2014 at 6.30pm at the Fruitmarket Gallery.

Dr Catherine Spencer and Stephanie Straine hosted a participatory discussion on Vija Celmins at 6.30pm on Tuesday 3 June at the Fruitmarket Gallery.

An evening focusing on Bruce Nauman took place on 18 November 2014 at Talbot Rice Gallery.

Keith Hartley and Dr Christian Weikop hosted a discussion on Georg Baselitz on 4 December 2014 at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery in Leicester, with Professor Neil Cox in the chair.

Christopher Griffin, Dr Lena Fritsch and Andrew Hardman hosted a discussion on Agnes Martin on 27 January 2015 at Talbot Rice Gallery.

Dr Harriet Riches and John White hosted a discussion on Francesca Woodman on 10 February 2015 at at the Fruitmarket Gallery.

Professor Eamonn Carrabine and Dr Fiona Anderson hosted a discussion on Diane Arbus on 10 March 2015, at Kirkcaldy Galleries, Kirkcaldy with Professor Neil Cox in the chair.

Dr James Boaden and Lucy Askew hosted a discussion on Roy Lichtenstein on 27 April 2015, at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Modern One.
